Lilli Name Blog 04-30-13

Names are everywhere. We all have them, everything has them- if something does not have a name we give it one and some things and ones even have a couple different names! One of the most people name references people know comes from Romeo and Juliet

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”

In Second Life names are a huge part of the world. We’ve got people with legend names, Resident Names, and Display names. People have all types of opinions about names in Second Life, but one thing you really can’t deny is that you see so many different names out there. Some that make you go, “Oh that’s such a neat name!” or “That’s such a pretty name!” or even, “…” I happen to love seeing all the names and wondering what made that person, pick that name…

  1. What’s your SL name? Lilliana Drachios
  2. What made you choose this name?  I really loved the movie, “Snow White a Tale of Terror” and Snow White’s name was Lilliana.
  3. What’s your SL nickname, or what do most people call you? (if applicable) Lilli or Lil, amongst a lot of little cute nicknames like Little Bear, Sunshine, Lillibug, etc.
  4. What’s your SL display name? Why do you choose to have one? (if applicable) Lilliana Audrey Marie Clip. I have this name, because I’m a kid avie and it’s my family name. 🙂
  5. Do you like your SL name? I do, yes! Sometimes I wish I had spelled it differently. But I do love my name.
  6. If you could change your SL name, what would it be? AnneMarie Swan
  7. What’s the craziest/funniest SL name you’ve ever seen?  Workingonit Linden
  8. What’s the coolest (your favorite) SL name you’ve ever seen? Dr Scientist, I dunno why I love this so much… But I do!

The Procrastination

So! I’m sort of on this bloggers challenge and Meme kick right now. I find so fun to do, and I also love to read them because you can learn so many random facts about a person!  One of my favorite bloggers to piggyback memes off of is Strawberry Singh. So in light of always calling my Bestie a ‘Sloth’ I was reading through Strawberry’s blog and found her ‘Procrastination Meme” and I’ve decided to go for it!

  1. What is the rez date for your current SL Avatar that you use most often?I have two avatars that I use! One of my kid avie, which is my most common to log in with- Lilliana Drachios, 04/07/2010 and the other is an adult avatar- Daisy Crowley, 06/28/2006.
  2. Where was the first place you made friends as a newb and got to know people in Second Life?
Lusk Wood. When I first came to SL, the friend with me was a furry, and I did’nt actually know their were human avatars in Second Life for about a year of playing! I came from a game called, ‘Furcadia’ so the idea of animals being the only avatars seemed normal. 😛
  3. Where do you spend most of your SL time now? 1 of 4 places. My home land, My God’Mum’s Family Sim, My Grandparents Sim, and a sim called Awesome.
  4. Who is your closest friend in Second Life? (only pick one) Alanna Absent
  5. What is the most favorite thing in your inventory? (only pick one) I have a pet rock that’s sand stone which I call Sandy, that I cherish about most other objects in my inventory.
  6. The last thing you purchased in Second Life? Uhmmm… Hang on!…. Does a Photo count (Upload Fee)? Cause I’ve spent 110L on those today 😛
  7. What color clothing does your avatar wear most often?  Without realizing it, I typically end up putting her in something white.
  8. Do you prefer to walk, run or fly?  Walk. I hate flying… I just don’t have the skillz Yo!
  9. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done in SL?  Wow, now that’s a hard question… I think the craziest thing would be when I did a glitter pranked, and it crashed an entire sim… or maybe the rope course at Camp. You’ve gotta be a crazy to do that for hours on end.
  10. Who would you like to play YOU, in the movie of your SLife? Gracie Rasco

The end of Time

Some say, that the world should have ended back in the winter when the snow was still covering the ground, preparing it for this spring’s flowers. Other people say that the Worlds End Wheelend of time or the end of the world, may never come. The truth is, none of us really know when the end of the world will be, or the end of our time here. However, not knowing does not stop us all from being obsessed with the end of the world.

There are so many books, movies, and tv shows about life for those that survive the ‘end’ or a ‘great war’.  Sims, also pop up all over the grid, with ideas about what the end of the world will bring. So, what do you think the end of the world will be?

I have been to the ‘end of the world’ a few times, but my favorite so far has been the re-creation of Lucia Genesis’ ideal.

The sim is called, ‘The World’s end Garden‘, which is located on the Worlds End Garden Sim.  When you first arrive, you are surrounded by a garden, which has been over taken, with no one to care for it, and trim back the flowers, so they have spread all over, covering it with leaves, flowers, and vines. As you wander through, you’ll find a door, a white which will take you to a whole other part of the world.

beautygarden hauntedWhereas the garden relaxes you.. it makes you smile and touches you in a deep place, just looking at all the over run flowers and vines, the next part touches you in a much deeper, darker place.  You’ll be taken to an abandoned place. Where even the tables are sitting with glasses of wine, or knocked over chairs as if a big gust of wind took them out. The buildings are on there last legs, and the lover’s boats in a shallow ocean, seem forgotten.

It’s an emotional, and well thought out creation, one that I believe should not be over looked, it’s amazing for just a nice day of looking around and exploring, so stop on by!

and it may be the end of the world, but make sure you don’t forget your camera!

Houston, We have a Problem

Well, considering that I took a rocket ride to outer space, I hope we did’nt actually have any problems! But I guess I’ll find out in a week or so, if I’ve grown any new limbs or turned green, “Houston, we got a big problem!”

If you’ve read my last post, you’ll notice that I’ve kind of been onto a ‘vintage’ SL this week. Visiting places that have been around for years. Although they may not be made of mesh, or have updated textures I find that these places will always have a close place to my heart, because it’s some of the things that I experienced when I first came to second life… many years ago. 😀

I love aliens, Monsters, stars, the moon, the sun, and pretty much all things space. (I’m also a huge Doctor Who fan, but ‘who’ isnt, right?)  So this trip made me all squee!  After a looooong car ride, or a very short Teleport; God I love travel in SL!; We arrived at the International Spaceflight Museum of Second Life, which is located on the Spaceport Alpha Sim.  Nasa

The Museum hosts everything from recreations of space ships, Telescopes, rockets, and more to help us learn about what goes on in space, and with the space programs, to keep us update on all those happenings. If you’re lucky enough, you might also catch a debate or educational lecture in the center of the Museum.

When you find yourself walking towards the outside of the displays, you might just see a rocket, sitting off to the side by itself with a bunch of signs… are you ready? It’s for you! Walk over, and make sure you follow all the directions, you would not want your ship to blow up or anything. You board… and blast off! Before you know it, you’re actually in outer space! Where you are able to travel to each planet, it’s such a rare and special treat.

I find that if you love Outer Space, like I do- this is an amazing place to visit. It’s perfect for dates, school field trips, and just a day out with the family. Plus, you get to learn some awesome stuff you may have not known, Who can pass that up, right?

You can find different things in the museum by taking these slurls:

There are Giants in the Sky

We’ve all grown up hearing tales of stories, that could never possibly be true, and than we grew up and entered a world- that couldn’t be true either. A world that is based, simply off the human mind, Our thoughts created into things. Stories we grew up with- brought to life!  Now to be honest, it was never one of my favorite’s but I’m sure you have all heard the tale of Jack and his Beanstalk?

A young boy, needs to sell his cow for money. Jack is a naive boy and he comes across an old man on the road while on his way to market. The old man tells Jack, that he will buy his cow from him… with some magical beans. Jack takes the beans home and tries to explain to his mother that they are magical beans. All his mother sees are normal… everyday… non magical beans.  She scolds Jack, and tosses the beans out into the yard.  The next day, Jack wakes and finds tall beanstalks have grown from the beans over night. Beanstalks so tall that they towered into the clouds.

Have you ever wanted to see a Beanstalk that tall? Or better yet… climb a beanstalk? Climb it way up into the sky? Into the clouds? I never knew I did, until the idea was proposed to me one day when I was sitting around bored. Now I find myself taking trips weekly to climb the 80 meter beanstalk that resides in Second Life.

If you ever find yourself on the Welsh sim, you might be drawn to the side of a healthy green beanstalk sitting in the middle on it’s own little island. Bean Stalk Blog Picture  This is no everyday beanstalk! It’s a unique piece of second life history! The climbable beanstalk was created by Second Life’s first Resident, Steller Sunshine, Who’s account was created in 2002.

I have been told, that the Beanstalk is also Second Life’s first official build, and has been on display for all these years, although it has moved to a few different homes over the years!

This bean stalk also comes with a unique challenge for those that love to try new things! This is what is written about the challenge by Steller Sunshine:

Climb the stalk!

This is a climbable challenge, do you want to take it?

Practice and if you get good and can prove to me you can make it to the top and not fall I will pay you $500.

No flying allowed. No scripts can assist. Thats right pure skill only! =0) Use jump and walk to make it to the top, yes it can be done!

To take the $500 challenge you need to make an appointment w/me and I must be present or one of my assistants who is available (Dawson Murphy).

You are welcome to practice anytime. =0)

Have fun!!!!

~Steller Sunshine

If this seems like your type of thing, Stop on by! The Beanstalk has given me hours of fun and amusement. If you are not really a climber.. or a jumper, But you love SL, this is a unique piece of resident history, that should not be over looked, I hope you enjoy! The Beanstalk can be located here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Welsh/35/82/21
